THIS PRODUCT IS NO LONGER IN PRODUCTION

Based on The NAB's new "Super Radio" specifications, The Sentinel receives AM and C-QUAM stereo with full NRSC compliance as well as FM/FMX stereo and all SCA/RDS subcarriers.

The receiver sports audio diagnostics for easy comparison of off-air signals. Included are readouts for total modulation, CBS loudness metering, program dynamic range, four-band spectral profile analysis, stereo balance and graphic display of stereo image width and mono compatibility.

Features

  • THIS PRODUCT IS NO LONGER IN PRODUCTION

  • Comprehensive audio program signal evaluation is built into the Sentinel, with an array of bar graph readouts for an objective overview of signal parameters.

  • The Sentinel is intended solely for relative comparisons between off-air signals.

Specifications

TOTAL MODULATION

Ballistics

Total Modulation is peak-responding and incorporates a peak-hold function.

Display Gain

Total Modulation readout shows peaks between 16% nd 130% in 3% increments. The button below the display can be used to switch in an additiona gain of X10 (20dB).

AM Modulation

Panel Readouts for AM Carrier Modulation, Asymmetrical AM Modulation and AM Display Errors.

FM Modulation

Total Modulation indication of 100% factory calibrated to ±75kHz deviation.

Multipath Detector

A multipath Detector has been built in with a Multipath display near the frequency readout. The Detector is interconnected with the Toatal Modulation display.

Additional Subcarriers

The Sentinel can be switched to monitor SCA or RDS subcarriers.

LEFT AND RIGHT CHANNELS

Ballistics

Left and Right Channel displays are peak-responding, and will closely follow the Total Modulation dispplay in response to program peak content.

Scaling / Gain

Left and Right Chanel bargraphs are dB-linera displays with a normal range of +10dB to -29dB. The button beneath the readout switches-in an additional 20dB Gain, changing the scaling to a range of -10dB to -49dB.

L+R STEREO SUM / L-R DIFFERENCE

Left and Right Channel program signals are matrixed into Left + Right “Sum”, and Left - Right “Difference” channels, and displayed alongside the the independent Left and Right Channel readouts.

QDM MONAURAL

Stereo Channel Phasing

To approximate non-coherent, acoustical combination of Left and Right Channel program signals, Inovonics has developed the “QDM” or Quadrature-Derived Monaural Channel.
